    • Hometown: Scottsdale, Arizona

    • If I wasn’t a doctor, I’d be: If I could sing, I would have loved to be a singer in a rock band (if you have not heard me sing, consider yourself lucky). I have always loved 80's rock music and even had a blue electric guitar when I was little!

    • Hobbies: Rollerblading, kickboxing, going to the dog park and on walks with my two dogs, overwatering plants, listening to music too loudly, trying out new restaurants, reading anything by Sarah J. Maas, going to farmer’s markets!

    • Favorite things to do in San Diego: I have not lived in SD yet, but I would vacation there a lot growing up and when I would I loved going to the beach and listening to one of my favorite bands “Rebelution", eating California burritos and cruising down boardwalks!

    • Favorite things to do in San Diego: try new restaurants/coffee shops, read on the beach, paddle board, rollerblade, and walk around the different neighborhoods!

    • Why I love KPSDFMR: the co-residents are the best part!!!! I love all the residents I work with/get to hang out with. I also love the ample elective time to explore personal interests, and the accessibility of specialists while you’re in clinic to ask quick questions is a great educational benefit!

  • Dru Martinez, MD

    • If I wasn’t a doctor, I’d be: An engineer thinking about being a doctor :)

    • Hobbies: I love sports that get me outside and/or together with others! I especially love basketball and have been getting into golf recently too! One of my niche hobbies is being an audiophile and listening to hi-fidelity music! My other passions include learning and practicing wellness, especially regarding mindfulness, plant-based diets, exercise, and sleep!

    • Favorite things to do in San Diego: explore new things/events with friends, be outside, skateboard along Mission/Pacific Beach, play basketball at the Snapdragon park, try new restaurants and breweries!

    • Why I love KPSDFMR: It's a family. I think we receive outstanding training, support, opportunities and we get to go through it all with some of the best of the best people!

    • Why I love KPSDFMR: My co-residents! Couldn't have asked for a better group of people and friends. Even though we work together all week, I still look forward to hanging out and doing fun activities on the weekend.

    • Why I love KPSDFMR: I chose KPSDFMR because of the people and the opportunities it provides. I immediately had a sense that the people here were supportive, happy and cared about each other. I also appreciated the high quality training KPSDFMR provides and the many ways it would prepare me to be the type and quality of physician I want to be.

    • Favorite things to do in San Diego: Spending time with my family, partner, and/or dog at the park or beach - maybe play a few games of volleyball, bocce ball or spike-ball - and have a bonfire to close the night!

    • Why I love KPSDFMR: Faculty and residents were genuinely interested in how I can grow professionally and personally to become the best family medicine doctor and explore my specific interests. They are incredibly supportive and will reach out just to see how things are going - it really feels like family!
