THINGS TO DO IN San Diego
Activities to fully appreciate this amazing city.
Visit La Jolla – Go to Prospect street and try to find parking (suggest 5 dollar all day lot or neighborhood parking.) Check out the shops, walk to La Jolla Cove and explore the area.
Go to the Children’s Pool La Jolla to see the Sea Lions, then drive over to the Cave and go see the Cave tour.
Tour the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier.
Explore Balboa Park and have lunch or dinner at The Prado. Make sure to check out the historic Carousel.
Go to the San Diego Zoo.
Visit the San Diego Safari Park in North County.
Take the ferry to Coronado Island and explore. Check out the Hotel Del, and visit the Museum of History and Art.
Take a Harbor Cruise to see the city from the water – Preferably a sunset cruise.
Hike Torrey Pines State Reserve.
Hike to Potato Chip Rock – Start at Lake Poway, in Poway, CA for the most scenic route.
Eat Shark Tacos from South Beach Bar & Grill in Ocean Beach. Also try their oysters.
Shop at Fashion Valley Mall.
Have breakfast at “World Famous” restaurant in Pacific Beach.
Eat dinner at Coasterra in Harbor Island, the views are amazing.
Check out the Gaslamp Quarter.
Catch a Padre game at Petco Park- While there, go get a hot dog inside the Western Metal Supply Building.
Sunbathe at Coronado Beach, check out silver strand state beach too.
Visit the Birch Aquarium at Scripps in La Jolla.
Visit the Cabrillo National Monument in Point Loma.
Watch a sunset from Sunset Cliffs in Point Loma.
Visit the Liberty Public Market in Liberty Station Point Loma.
Go to Moonlight amphitheater to see a musical.
Have a drink at the Stone Brewery in Point Loma and in Escondido (2 locations).
Walk around Seaport Village for hours and enjoy all the street performers.
Have dinner in Old Town and try some tequila and tacos.
Drive to the top of Mt. Soledad and enjoy the views.
Have lunch at the Bali Hai in Shelter Island.
Hike to the tide pools at Cabrillo National Monument.
Spend the day at Moonlight Beach and watch the sunset.
Have early dinner at the Cordiano Winery in Escondido and enjoy the view.
Go kayaking in La Jolla – Suggest booking a guided kayak tour and using their equipment.
Hike and/or bike Mission Trails Regional Park.
Take your kids (if you have them) to the Children’s Museums (One in Escondido and one downtown).
Catch a play at the Old Globe. Preferably during winter to see How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Walk the boardwalk in Mission Beach.
Visit Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala – The first Mission in California.
Visit the Old Point Loma Lighthouse.
Visit the University of San Diego and walk around, specifically check out the view from behind the Institute for Peace and Justice.
Catch a college baseball game at Point Loma Nazarene University to watch the Sealions play.
Have dinner in Little Italy then walk around after.
Have brunch at Tom Ham’s lighthouse.
Have lunch or dinner at Mr. A’s on Fifth Ave. Sit outside if you can. It gets cold up there so bring a jacket.
Have a chocolate Martini at the Top of the Hyatt Bar downtown.
Ride your bike along the Mission Bay Park area and have lunch at Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa.
Spend the day at Powerhouse Park in Del Mar (It’s a park attached to a beach so bring beach stuff).
Visit the Self-Realization Meditation Gardens in Encinitas.
Eat a Cali burrito at Mike’s Taco Shop in Ocean Beach.
Eat at the Marine Room Restaurant in La Jolla. Or go grab a drink at their bar.
Check out the riders at the Balboa Park Velodrome on Tuesdays or Friday evenings.
Take a tour of the Taylor Guitar Factory in El Cajon (free) Mon – Fri at 1pm.
Take the Coronado Ferry at the Broadway pier from San Diego to Coronado.
Have a picnic at Glider Park in La Jolla Shores. Also known as Torrey Pines Gliderport.
Have a drink during happy hour at Panama 66 in Balboa Park.
Get desert at Juniper and Ivy in Little Italy. I suggest trying the Yodel.
Have a bloody Mary at The Farmer’s Table in Bay Park.
Have a drink at the speakeasy Raised by Wolves at Westfield UTC mall.
